RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN QUALIFICATIONS
In Portugal, the recognition of higher education degrees and diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions has been regulated since January 1, 2019, by Decree-Law no. 66/2018.
There are three types of recognition in Portugal:
- Automatic recognition;
- Level recognition;
- Specific recognition.

Specific Recognition of the integrated study cycle of the Master's Degree in Medicine from Portuguese Medical Schools
To apply for Specific Recognition (which applies to Medicine), interested parties should visit the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) Website and then:
- Select the Specific Recognition option;
- Fill out the online form, attaching the requested documents in digital format;
- The request will be subject to payment of fees, to be charged after the request is made;
- After payment has been requested, the application will be reviewed and processed by NOVA Medical School until a final decision is reached, which will be communicated to the applicant.
