On December 14, 2025, the new Governing Bodies of the National Association of Medical Students (ANEM) took office for the 2026 term.
This new team includes three students from NOVA Medical School - Faculty of Medical Sciences: Diogo Oliveira, as Director of Medical Education; Clara Cruz, as Vice-President of the General Assembly; and Gonçalo Tedéu, as Vice-President of the Supervisory Board.
The new ANEM Board assumes responsibility for intervening in a serious and informed manner in the national debate on Medical Training and the future of the Health System. In a context marked by profound structural challenges, ANEM reaffirms its role as a constructive interlocutor between students, educational institutions, health entities, and policy makers.
“Medical training must be dynamic and adapted to the challenges facing healthcare, because it directly impacts the quality of healthcare provided. A sustainable healthcare system must be harmonious in its entirety, it must be the whole and not the parts, and it must anticipate rather than react. Medical training and the healthcare system are therefore inseparable, but the current reality presents them as disconnected," says the new Chair of the Board, Maria Fontão.
