Mariane Shouky

PhD Student,Institut Curie

Mariane has a Master of Science degree in Cancer Biology from University of Montpellier, France. During her Master’s internship, she worked on Breast Cancer invasion and metastasis. She later joined Graca Raposo’s lab at Curie Institute in Paris, where she got introduced to the world of extracellular vesicles (EVs) and where she is currently pursuing her PhD. Mariane’s PhD project mainly revolves around characterizing a new EV to be, the MBsome (released midbody), studying its biogenesis and its signaling function in skin homeostasis.

Fun Fact: Mariane transcends her passion for astronomy and languages into her scientific research. So here’s how she’d briefly describe it: “I’m catching and counting stars (EVs), studying stars (EVs) birth, and learning cells language dialects (EVs subtypes).”
