13-Oct-2023

On the 22nd of September, Ana Faria and Lara Carvalho, researchers and professors at NOVA Medical School, along with Ana Raquel Machado, manager of the Fly Facility and Cell Culture Facility, and Sérgio Fontes, lab management officer, participated in the Green Labs Portugal Symposium, in Coimbra, representing the NMS Green Labs Team and research ecosystem.

Green Labs Portugal Symposium focused on sustainable lab practices and brought together national and international experts. The primary objective of the first event organized by the network of sustainable research laboratories in Portugal – GreenLabsPT - was to promote reflection on how to reduce the environmental impact of scientific research without compromising the vital role of science and innovation in the progress of society.

NMS representatives showcased our school commitment to eco-friendly research and a sustainable future, sharing ideas and exploring the best practices in this area at a national level, with their peers at the symposium.

This experience will help NMS Green Labs Team promote green practices in our scientific research activities and make our labs more environmentally friendly.  The members of NMS Green Labs Team are professors and researchers Ana Faria and Catarina Martins, plus Manuela Correia, coordinator of the Lab Management Office.
