The mission of the NOVA Medical School (NMS) of the NOVA University Lisbon (UNL) is to provide public service for the qualification of excellence in the fields of medical and health sciences. To achieve this mission, the Faculty has the following objectives:

a) Internationally competitive research, focusing on interdisciplinary areas, including research aimed at solving health problems that affect society;

b) Teaching excellence, with a growing emphasis on the second and third cycles and through nationally and internationally competitive academic programs;

c) A broad base of inter-institutional participation, taking advantage of the possibilities of creating new synergies in the field of health, both at the level of NOVA University Lisbon's organic units and at a more global level;

d) The provision of quality services, both nationally and internationally, capable of making a significant contribution to improving healthcare and the qualification of human resources in the field of health, particularly in Portuguese-speaking countries.

The profile of innovation and constant improvement that NMS aims for is thus clear, and this was the rationale behind the development of the exponential medicine unit: u. me at NOVA Medical School, a transversal structure whose main objective is to design and promote interdisciplinary health projects, acting as a collaborative intelligence center → for informed scientific exchange, knowledge sharing, dialogue and networking, shaping sustainable practices and tools for the accelerated development of innovative health interventions, creating value and saving human lives.
