International Doctoral Program in Health Sciences

The Doctoral Program in Health Sciences has established itself as a national and international benchmark for excellence.

It promotes the development of high-quality research projects, encouraging interdisciplinarity in the fields of medicine, biomedicine, and related scientific and technological areas. The program is based on the expertise and resources of excellence at NOVA Medical School and is organized around the research areas of Chronic Diseases and Aging; Population Health and Nutrition; New Cellular and Molecular Therapies.

The cycle of studies leading to a Doctorate in Health Sciences offers research-focused training with a strong interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach, covering fundamental, translational, clinical, and epidemiological biomedical research with a direct impact on human health.

OBJECTIVES

The PhD in Health Sciences can be carried out in the following specialities:

Medicine
Biomedicine

The essence of the Program is to contribute to the formation of excellence in these scientific areas of recognized merit, and considered strategic for the scientific and technological development of NMS, promoting synergies and maximizing the complementarity of the existing technical and methodological resources, reinforcing collaboration between basic and clinical science. In this context, the student in the ambit of his project will be the catalyser for this strategy, being integrated into a Commuty of Researchers.
