Student Support Office

DEAR STUDENT, BY YOU AND FOR YOU!

The Student Support Office (GAA) works closely with NOVA Medical School's Management, the Pedagogical Council, other Faculty departments and the Students' Association (AENMS).

MISSION

The Student Support Office's mission is to integrate and support students during their academic career, focusing on their satisfaction and well-being.

It aims, at the student's request, to support and promote the design of appropriate and personalized solutions to students' problematic situations. It aims to promote the monitoring and resolution of these situations, through close coordination with other internal or external services at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

SKILLS

  • Making referrals for psychological support and/or facilitating the provision of socio-educational support to students, whenever this is justified, in conjunction with various stakeholders in the educational community;
  • Provide referrals to non-academic services and activities that promote the well-being of NOVA Medical School students;
  • Proposing the adoption of measures, solutions and procedures for better integration and level of satisfaction of NMS students;
  • Help prevent situations of repeated retention, abandonment and/or school absenteeism.

The GAA responds to requests sent to it by NMS students, helping to resolve problematic situations that arise, such as:

  • Those requiring psychological referral;
  • Devising solutions for cases requiring pedagogical support;
  • Promoting peer support.

Throughout the process, the confidentiality of the data and information provided will be ensured, and it will only be known to those involved and to the extent strictly necessary.
