NOVA Medical School, in partnership with Casa Mendes Gonçalves, the Mendes Gonçalves Foundation and INIAV, IP, is holding an event dedicated to reflection and action on soil regeneration as an essential pillar for land health, sustainable food production and human nutrition, on February 10th, from 4pm to 6:30pm, at NOVA Medical School's Carcavelos Campus.

This session will bring together health experts, researchers and members of the corporate sector to explore how healthy soils are the basis for sustainable production, environmental preservation and, as a result, our health.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • João Ferreira, Casa Mendes Gonçalves
  • Diogo Pinho, Monte da Silveira Bio
  • Nádia Castanheira, INIAV researcher and soil specialist
  • Gabriela Cruz, President of APOSOLO
  • Diogo Pestana, Assistant Professor at NOVA Medical School

There is a remarkable interconnection between the state of soils, food quality and human health: healthy soil is the basis for the production of nutrient-rich food, which in turn is essential for well-being and disease prevention. Regenerative soils, maintained through sustainable agricultural practices, preserve biodiversity, promote nutrient retention and guarantee the sustainability of the ecosystem. This meeting will aim not only to promote reflection and action on this issue, but also, in the medium term, to create synergies for the development of practical actions aimed at sustainability.

Program:

15h40: Welcome Coffee

16h00: Screening of the documentary "Common Ground"

17h45: Debate with leaders and experts in sustainable agricultural practices and human health, moderated by Professor Paulo Valejo Coelho, Coordinator of the Sustainability Council at NOVA Medical School

18h15: Interactive space for exchanging ideas
