Hospital da Bonecada is back for its 24th edition, once again bringing an interactive and educational experience that helps children overcome the “White Coat Syndrome” - the fear of doctors and hospitals.
From April 23 to May 4, 2025, the Central Square of the Colombo Shopping Center will be transformed into a real model hospital, where children aged 3 to 10 are invited to bring their dolls and soft toys to be “treated” by future health professionals. The event is free to attend and is organized by the NOVA Medical School Student Association (AENMS).
This year, the central theme will be “The Child and Emotions”, which aims to reinforce the importance of empathy and emotional well-being in child development.
1100 volunteers, 14 rooms and a transformative impact
With the support of more than 1,100 volunteers, including students and health professionals, the event recreates a complete hospital journey, made up of 14 interactive rooms, such as Triage, Consulting Room, Operating Room, Laboratory, Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy Office, Physiotherapy Gym and Nutrition Room.
As well as bringing young people closer to the medical environment in a playful way, this initiative also has a strong impact on the training of future health professionals, developing their communication skills and the humanization of care.
A charity event
The 24th edition of Hospital da Bonecada also has a charitable purpose. All the funds raised will go to ANA (Acolher, Nutrir, Amar), an NGO that supports Guinean children undergoing medical treatment and social care.
