NOVA Medical School and NOVA SBE (Nova School of Business and Economics) signed an innovative partnership with Carnegie Mellon University on April 9, as part of the CMU Portugal Program, supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
This initiative aims to boost entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses, helping them to expand their operations and take their projects to their full potential.
Within the CMU Portugal Patient Innovation Accelerator, we highlight the Patient Innovation Bootcamp, currently running, which supports patients and informal caregivers in implementing and scaling up innovative solutions developed to address their own health challenges.
After the bootcamp, the participating start-ups move on to an acceleration phase at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. Here, in collaboration with the CMU Portugal Program, they carry out a variety of activities to accelerate the growth of their businesses, with a special focus on applying expertise in artificial intelligence.
For the Director of NOVA Medical School, Helena Canhão, this partnership is a source of pride:
"NOVA Medical School is proud of this partnership, which enables us to empower and support innovators in the healthcare field to develop their solutions. The CMU Portugal program thus joins forces with NOVA to cohesively combine these three components, providing a unique experience for innovators, who are mostly patients and informal caregivers, and equipping them with fundamental tools to innovate and take their products to market."
