The new board of the NOVA Medical School Student Association (AENMS) for 2024/2025 took office yesterday, led by President Diogo Oliveira. With a motto of proximity and involvement of the student community, the new team is committed to strengthening AENMS' role as a bridge between students and the institution, promoting associations and active participation in NOVA Medical School's various internal and external events.
The new management team is made up of:
- President: Diogo Oliveira
- Internal Vice-President: Joana Stone
- External Vice-President: Clara Raposo Cruz
- Vice-President for Communication: Pedro Leandro
- Treasurer: Daniela Caleira
- Secretary General: Inês Lourenço
In the presentation, the team highlighted its main objectives for the coming year, which include strengthening proximity to the student community through inclusive and innovative initiatives; encouraging more students to get involved in the associations and activities organised by AENMS; and encouraging participation in scientific, social and cultural events of relevance to the training of NOVA Medical School students.
The ceremony was attended by the Dean of NOVA Medical School, Professor Helena Canhão, who emphasised the fundamental role of AENMS in strengthening the link between the institution and its students, praising the leadership skills and dynamism of the new team. She also thanked the outgoing team made up of the outgoing President of the Board, Afonso Dias, and the other members for their work in favour of the students and the institution.
The event was also attended by Dr Mar Mateus Costa, representative of the Portuguese Medical Association, Dr Jorge Roque da Cunha, representative of the Independent Doctors‘ Union, Maria João Tiago, Regional Secretary of the Independent Doctors’ Union, Paulo Peres, President of the National Association of Medical Students, Luísa Dias, President of the National Association of Nutrition Students, Mariana Barbosa, President of the Management Committee of the Lisbon Academic Federation, Tiago Batista, Vice-President of the Lisbon Higher Education Sports Association.
NOVA Medical School wishes the new AENMS Board an excellent term in office and hopes that they will continue to represent and inspire the school's students, contributing to excellent academic and personal training.
