The founding members, partners and affiliates of the Lisbon Academic Clinical Centre (CCAL) met at NOVA Medical School to take new steps in the consortium's development and growth process. The main meeting brought together representatives from the eight institutions in the group, which aims to promote synergies in the fields of research, teaching and care provision.
The meeting reported on the activities carried out under the 2023-2025 programme contract, discussed the regulations guiding the organisation and operation of the board and the funding fund, and approved CCAL's strategic plan.
CCAL reflects an unequivocal commitment to collaborative excellence. NOVA Medical School is proud to be an active part of building an innovative model of health and knowledge, integrating research, teaching and the provision of care, always for the benefit of society,’ explains the Dean of NOVA Medical School, Helena Canhão.
CCAL is made up of six Local Health Units - São José, Estuário do Tejo, Lezíria, Lisboa Ocidental, Litoral Alentejano and Médio Tejo, the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Lisbon and two Academic Institutions - the National School of Public Health and NOVA Medical School.
The board of the consortium is currently chaired by ULS São José, Rosa Valente de Matos, chairwoman of the Board of Directors. The Academic Clinical Centre also has a Scientific and Strategic Council and a Cooperation Council, chaired by other member institutions.
CCAL's mission, through the creation of a culture of cooperation, sharing and mutual trust, is to stimulate the organised and systematic use of synergies between its members, developing and consolidating a structure that integrates the provision of healthcare and the development of teaching and research activities.
