Med on Tour brings free screenings and health education to Alenquer's parishes

17-Mar-2025

NOVA Medical School students took part in another edition of Med on Tour, in the municipality of Alenquer, where they carried out free screenings and awareness-raising activities for the population.

This initiative is the result of a cooperation protocol between the Municipality of Alenquer and the NOVA Medical School - Faculty of Medical Sciences Student Association (AENMS), reinforcing the commitment to promoting public health.

On March 15 and 16, residents of the municipality's 11 parishes had free access to diabetes, hypertension and body mass index screenings, carried out by students from NOVA Medical School's Integrated Master's in Medicine course, always under the supervision of a doctor.

Prior to these activities, 27 student volunteers also visited various schools in the four districts of the municipality of Alenquer, addressing topics that are essential for the well-being of the population and promoting health literacy among the school community.

Since it began in 2018, Med on Tour has had a real and positive impact on the health of the local population. In the last edition alone, held in October, more than 500 screenings were carried out throughout the municipality, highlighting the importance of this collaboration between the NOVA Medical School Student Association and the Municipality of Alenquer.
