Patrícia Grácio, researcher at NOVA Medical School, talks with newspaper Observador about her work in neuron differentiation.
The PhD student, from the Proliferation and Fate Regulation of Stem Cells lab, is supervised by Catarina Homem and described to the newspaper the project that earned her one of the seven grants awarded in Portugal by 'la Caixa' foundation.
"The aim of the project is to identify genes that regulate neural stem cell identity over time. After identifying these new temporal identity regulatory genes, I will be able to study their expression patterns throughout development – where and when they are expressed in the brain – and the way they influence the type of neurons formed at specific times" said Patricia in conversation with journalist Sofia Teixeira.
