José Belo, Full Professor at NOVA Medical School, received the Career Award from the Portuguese Society for Stem Cells and Cell Therapy (SPCE-TC) "SPCE-TC Career Award" during the 13th Annual Meeting of the "ETRS & SPCE-TC Joint Meeting" held at the University of Coimbra on October 11-13 of this year.

The Career Award was presented to Professor NMS by António Salgado, President of SPCE-TC and Vice-Director for Research at the School of Medicine of Universidade do Minho, as "recognition of an excellent career in stem cell biology research."

This distinction serves as a recognition to José Belo's scientific contributions resulting from his commitment to research in the field of stem cells and embryonic development over several decades, as well as his active participation in SPCE-TC's activities, meetings, and informal gatherings. Furthermore, José Belo played a crucial role in training young researchers, contributing to the new generation of scientists.

For José Belo, this distinction represents "a great honor, to be recognized for my contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the training of young researchers in the field of Stem Cell Biology. But this is a collective effort, and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the team members and collaborators, both current and past, with whom I have had the privilege to interact until now."
