In a movement aimed at encouraging dialogue and action, the EUTOPIA alliance launched the first EUTOPIA Day on May 13, 2024, which aims to be a platform for collaborative engagement, while also serving as a reminder of the Alliance's vision of social responsibility and global engagement linked to the academic goals of excellence.

On May 13, EUTOPIA's member universities organized activities to engage their communities. These events include panel discussions, workshops, lectures, walks and seminars that higlight EUTOPIA's role in transforming the higher education landscape into a more sustainable ecosystem in the face of climate change.

NOVA Medical School joined in the celebrations with a round table discussion, moderated by the deputy director and professor of NOVA Medical School, Nuno Neuparth, and NOVA Medical School professor Pedro Martins, with the theme "Increasing Awareness to Climate Changes", in which representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, teachers and students took part, including the teacher and Coordinator of the Mobility Area at NOVA Medical School, Paulo Paixão, the President of the Portuguese Council for Health and the Environment and NOVA Medical School alumnus, Luís Campos, NOVA Medical School professor Diogo Pestana, the Managing Director of Menarini, Apifarma Board member and also NOVA Medical School alumnus, Miguel Rovisco de Andrade, and students Inês Lourenço and Joana Grilo.

In the words of Professor Paulo Paixão, holding this event at NOVA Medical School as part of EUTOPIA makes it possible to address and highlight problems and challenges from a medical point of view and to present proposals for minimizing the problem of climate change, not only in health, but also in everyday life and in the importance of each of us taking individual and collective action for the common good.
