Jaime da Cunha Branco

Professor Professor Catedrático

Born in 1955, in Lisbon, and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Classical University of Lisbon in 1978.

Hospital Assistant of Rheumatology in 1992 and Head of the Rheumatology Service since 1998, he is Director of the Rheumatology Service at CHLO | Egas Moniz Hospital since 2006.

He received his PhD at NOVA Medical School (NMS) at NOVA University of Lisbon in 1997, was hired as an Assistant Professor in 1999, took aggregation exams in 2003, was hired as an Associate Professor in 2007 and, in 2012, applied for Full Professor at this faculty of which he was Dean from 2013 until the end of 2021.

He is author and co-author of hundreds of scientific publications, being Principal Investigator, in the area of Rheumatology, of the CEDOC of the NMS. He has received 492 scientific awards, namely the BIAL Prize for Clinical Medicine 2008 and the BIAL Grand Prize for Medicine 2016. He has been a Reuméritus of the Portuguese Society of Rheumatology since 2010.
