NOVA Medical School played an instrumental role in launching the Master’s Degree in Digital Skills in Health, a pioneering initiative funded by the European Commission through the Digital Europe DS4Health Program and coordinated in Portugal by NOVA University Lisbon. This master’s program is part of an international consortium of excellence that brings together leading institutions in the field of digital health.
Following the official launch ceremony of the course, held on September 9, 2025, at the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon (Caparica Campus), NOVA Medical School hosted a working session that brought together representatives from the consortium’s international partner institutions. The meeting, organized in collaboration with the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC), was attended by Professors Ricardo Afonso, Ana Rodrigues, and Jorge Mendes, representing the faculty. Also present were Professor Gernot Marx — project coordinator and head of UniKlinik RWTH Aachen (Germany) — together with the coordinators of the partner institutions: ENSAE Paris (France), Medical University of Vienna (Austria), University of Ioannina (Greece), Tel Aviv University (Israel), and Politehnica University of Bucharest (Romania).
The new master’s degree results from the collaboration of three units of NOVA University Lisbon — the Faculty of Science and Technology, NOVA Medical School, and the National School of Public Health. It positions NOVA Medical School as a central player in advancing digital skills in health, contributing to the training of professionals equipped to meet the challenges of digital transformation in the sector.
