Helena Canhão, dean of NOVA Medical School, is the new President of the Council of Portuguese Medical Schools (CEMP) for the 2023-2024 biennium.
Elected last January, Helena Canhão assumed the presidency of Council of Portuguese Medical Schools, succeeding Henrique Cyrne Carvalho (Dean of the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences).
Helena Canhão is the dean of NOVA Medical School. She is Full Professor of Medicine, Coordinator of the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC) and Associate Laboratory REAL. She is also chair of the AICIB Advisory Board and the Collaborative Laboratory Value for Health Advisory Board. Helena Canhão is also a Senior Rheumatology Consultant, Head of the Rheumatology Unit at Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Central - Hospital Santo António dos Capuchos.
