Tomás is a trained molecular & cell biologist, nanoscale technologist and a bioengineer boasting a broad scientific background. His journey with EVs began in 2015 after joining the Kalluri group at MD Anderson in Houston, during his PhD in Bioengineering Systems - MIT Portugal Program. Tomas transitioned to industry in 2017 and as Chief Technology Officer at Mursla, has led clinical studies and the development of methodologies for the characterization and isolation of EV sub-populations. Tomas is interested in translating the diagnostics potential of EVs into real-world clinical applications.
Fun fact: Rediscovering thrill of competition, he now braves tennis courts and fitness challenges with a mix of eagerness and fear for his 'not-so-resilient-anymore' bones and cartilage.
