It was within the scope of the NMS collaboration with the Junta de Freguesia de Arroios (JFA) that the 2nd Edition of the Training Action on First Aid took place on the 17th of June, aimed at the monitors of the Holiday Camps “Verão em Movimento 2023” an organization of the JFA.
The objective of the session entitled “REanimadores de Verão” was to equip the monitors with the preparation to act appropriately in situations that require intervention in first aid.
After theoretical training on the various topics in the scope of Basic Life Support and 1st Aid, the approximately 33 young monitors were able to put into practice the knowledge acquired in a competition made up of several thematic stations.
The organization and alignment of the session was oversaw by Professor Pedro Póvoa and Dr. José Luís Ferreira, responsible for teaching this area at NMS. The training was coordinated by Dr.ª Alexandra Teixeira, a doctor currently working in the Algarve and had the following instructors: Dr. Daniela Cunha (Nurse), Teresa Homem (Internal Physician), David Meireles (Internal Physician), Daniel Nunes (Internal Physician), Beatriz Oliveira (Internal Physician), Francisco Pereira (Internal Physician), Gonçalo Reis (Internal Physician), Samuel Tavares (Internal Physician), Francisco Melo (NMS student and SBV instructor).
The NMS would like to thank everyone for their availability for this training event.
Several technicians from the Junta de Freguesia de Arroios were present, including Dr. Ana Soares and Dr. Andreia Rodrigues of Education and Youth Section, Social Intervention Division and Dr. Vitor Escudeiro (Sports Section, Social Intervention Division).
It was a pleasure to materialize in this action the partnership between both institutions allowing NMS to once again put its knowledge at the service of the population.
