NOVA Medical School partnered with the Associação Protectora dos Diabéticos de Portugal and the European Animal Research Association in an initiative to bring people with diabetes closer to animal research.
At this event, which included representatives from the three organizations, a group of people with diabetes had the opportunity to attend presentations on the role of animal research in the field of diabetes and other metabolic diseases.
In addition, participants were able to observe live animal experiments in real time, answering any questions or concerns that arose.
During this initiative, attendees also visited some of NOVA Medical School's laboratories, namely those where research is carried out to develop new approaches.
Animal research plays an essential role in understanding the biological mechanisms involved in diseases and in developing treatments and new therapies.
The research carried out at our institution strictly respects the best animal welfare practices and Portuguese legal standards. NOVA Medical School is a signatory to the Transparency Agreement on Research in Portugal.
