NOVA Medical School students hold Open Class on vaccinations for senior citizens

07-Nov-2024

The 4th year students of NOVA Medical School's Integrated Master's in Medicine took part in an Open Class on vaccination, aimed at the population over 50, including users of Lisbon's Senior Universities and Day Care Centers, with the aim of enlightening the population and offering practical advice on this subject.

During the class, the Arroios Senior Academy presented a play created especially for the event, addressing common fears and myths related to vaccination. After the performance, there was an interactive workshop where the students gave presentations and answered questions. This moment promoted a space for dialog and intergenerational learning, reinforcing the importance of information to demystify prejudices and strengthen confidence in vaccination.

This was the first of two classes, the second of which will take place on November 13, 2024, with almost 100 people from the community signed up.

This initiative had the collaboration of the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC), the Arroios Parish Council, the Arroios Senior Academy and Lisbon Active and Healthy Ageing (Lisbon AHA).
