“Frontal: Décadas em Papel” celebrates 42 years of history at NOVA Medical School

05-Nov-2025

The exhibition “Frontal: Decades on Paper”, which celebrates more than four decades of history, memory, and academic identity of this student magazine, is on display until November 28 at the Library of NOVA Medical School (Rua do Instituto Bacteriológico, No. 3), and can be visited during regular opening hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Frontal Magazine has been – and continues to be – a landmark in the academic life of NOVA Medical School. Integrated within the Students’ Association, this project is the result of the dedication and involvement of Medical and Nutrition students, serving as a platform for expression and for sharing a passion for writing.

For the first time, the exhibition presents the complete collection of Frontal’s printed editions — from its creation to the most recent 55th issue, released in October 2025 — inviting visitors to revisit the evolution of the student community and the role of Medical and Nutrition students in shaping the School’s academic and cultural life.

The opening session was attended by Professor Conceição Calhau, Full Professor and Vice Dean for Community Outreach at NOVA Medical School; Professor António Rendas, former Dean of NOVA Medical School and former Rector of NOVA University Lisbon; Dr. Jorge Roque da Cunha, President of the Independent Doctors’ Union and former Director of Frontal Magazine; and Tiago Baptista, NOVA Medical School alumnus and also former Director of the magazine.

NOVA Medical School extends its thanks to everyone who contributed to this initiative — especially to the Library team and the Frontal editorial board — for their commitment to preserving and promoting the School’s memory.
