NOVA Medical School celebra 48 anos de história e compromisso com a saúde

18-Nov-2025

NOVA Medical School celebrated its 48th anniversary at a ceremony that brought together students, teachers, staff, and partners to celebrate the progress made and the future that is being built every day.

The NOVA Medical School Auditorium was filled to capacity for a moment of sharing and emotion, with speeches by the Rector of NOVA University Lisbon, Professor Paulo Pereira, the Dean of NOVA Medical School, Professor Pedro Póvoa, and the President of the Student Union, Diogo Oliveira.

The ceremony also featured inspiring speeches by Professors Jaime da Cunha Branco and Luís Pereira da Silva, who, after long careers dedicated to teaching and science, shared their reflections with the entire audience.

This was followed by moments of recognition and gratitude, with a tribute to nine employees who retired in 2025 and four professors who completed 30 years of service at NOVA Medical School — testimonials of dedication and commitment to the school's mission.

Twenty-five Academic Merit Awards were also presented, supported by institutional partners such as Caixa Geral de Depósitos, CUF, Danone Nutricia, INIAV, Nestlé, Diaverum, Eurest, SICGEN, SMEG, and AstraZeneca, and 22 students were awarded the NOVA Medical School Sports Merit Scholarship, a symbol of the balance between academic excellence and sports practice.

The afternoon ended in a celebratory atmosphere, with a musical moment and the traditional “Happy Birthday” in the Salas dos Actos and Passos Perdidos, where the entire community gathered to share the birthday cake and toast to the future.

More than just a ceremony, the 48th anniversary of NOVA Medical School was an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of community, merit, and the mission to transform health and society, a commitment that is renewed with each generation.
