Innovation in tourism with its own stage at BTL

NEST HaT: Health and Tourism Lab @NOVA Medical School is part of the "Next Generation Tourism" program. Inserted in BTL, this initiative, totally dedicated to the future and innovation for the travel and tourism sector, will take place between March 15 and 20, 2022, in different stages in Lisbon.

NEST HaT: Health and Tourism Lab @ NOVA Medical School (NMS) at NOVA University of Lisbon, the foundational pillar of the Health and Tourism Chair, arises from a partnership between the exponential medicine unit (u.me) of NMS and the NEST Association – Tourism Innovation Center (NEST).

NEST HaT Lab @ NMS presents an interdisciplinary, collaborative, equitable and plural profile, promoting the qualification of the tourist offer by Health - process of optimization for Health and qualification of the destination - key element for a "post-crisis" positioning and reaffirmation of the positive image of safety and quality in Portugal, capitalizing on an opportunity that is anticipated in the diversion of demand flows. The creation of a climate of trust between visitors, residents of local communities and companies providing tourist services will be a determining factor in the recovery of the sector and for this it is urgent that efforts be made and strategies adopted based on evidence but also that new solutions emerge. sustainable basis that enable the recovery of the perception of safety and quality of the tourist destination Portugal.

The future of tourism: the vision shared with society

Along with the agenda at FIL, in Lisbon, “WhatWhat's Next Innovating Tourism” will feature a set of four sessions, taking place in locations outside BTL, which bring the vision of leaders from other areas of society and the economy. for the tourism sector.

Already confirmed, on March 14, are Tiago Pitta e Cunha CEO of the Oceano Azul Foundation and Pessoa Award 2021, and João Wengrovius Meneses Secretary General of the Business Council for Sustainable Development, in a session dedicated to the topic of sustainability.

The 15th will be dedicated to digital transformation.

On the 17th, it will be the turn of Germano de Sousa, Doctor, Professor and Manager in the field of health, Maria de Belém Roseira, former Minister of Health, to discuss the impact of health on tourism - Session to be held at NMS, at 7pm.

The cycle of sessions ends on March 18th with a discussion on the role of culture and art in construction of tourist destinations.
