This annual meeting, organized by the NMS PhD Student Committee, happened for the first time since 2019, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This retreat took place on the 20th and 23rd of October, with this last day dedicated to the recreational component of the retreat, with a trip by the researchers to Seville.
On the other end, the first day was dedicated to the scientific component, with thematic sessions at Auditório Manuel Machado Macedo. It was composed of oral and poster presentations from the PhD students, as well as a welcome from NMS Dean, Helena Canhão, a motivational lecture by the Vice-Dean for Research, Patrícia Calado and a presentation on the advantages of communicating to non-peers by Nuno Miguel Gonçalves, from the Science Communication Nucleus.
The prizes were voted on by the students themselves, and PhD students Andreia Ferreira and Luís Cabaço were selected for the best oral presentation and best poster, respectively.
"The return of the annual retreat allowed the students to expand their contact networks inside and outside the scientific field. We appreciate everyone's presence and look forward to your participation in future retreats to promote community spirit at NMS" said the members of the outgoing committee, responsible for all activities of the NMS PhD students during 2021 and 2022.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this event and we wish the new committee the best of luck. Get to know them on the PhD Student Committee page.
