Ana Rodrigues, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Epidemiology and Ageing at NOVA Medical School, where she leads the EpiDoC unit and coordinates the Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC). She graduated in Medicine in 2003 and specialized in Rheumatology in 2012, with training at Hospital de Santa Maria (Lisbon) and Cochin Hospital (Paris). She holds a subspecialty in Paediatric Rheumatology and has been a consultant since 2021. She completed a PhD in Medicine (Rheumatology) in 2018 and advanced training in clinical research and epidemiology through the Harvard Medical School–Portugal Program.

Her interdisciplinary research team focuses on rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs), ageing, digital health, and clinical epidemiology. She is actively engaged in international research networks such as EuroSpA and EHDEN.

With over 120 peer-reviewed publications and participation in more than 50 research projects, including randomized controlled trials, she has produced impactful evidence supporting clinical guidelines, public health strategies, and COVID-19 vaccination policies for high-risk populations.

She currently leads funded projects focused on developing personalized digital health interventions that promote healthy behaviours and self-management among individuals with musculoskeletal conditions.. Her scientific contributions have been recognized with distinctions such as the BIAL Clinical Medicine Award (2016). She also plays an active role in health policy and patient advocacy, reinforcing the societal relevance of her work.
